Messages on Fear
Seven Reasons Not to Fear
by Pastor John Khng
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 43:1-7
Isa 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
Isa 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Isa 43:3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
Isa 43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Isa 43:5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Isa 43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
Isa 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Fear not, knowing that:
1) God is our Creator – Isa. 43:1a
2) God is our Redeemer – Isa. 43:1b
3) God Knows Us Personally by our Name and we Belong to Him - Isa. 43:1c
4) God is With Us - through our trials and He will protect us – Isa. 43:2
5) God is Our Saviour (Deliverer) - and He will deliver us – Isa. 43:3
6) God Loves Us and we are Precious to Him – Isa. 43:4
7) God will Gather Us to Himself – Isa. 43:5-7
God’s Word, the Bible says:
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” – Psalm 27:1
“Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.” – Psalm 27:3
“In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” – Psalm 56:4
“The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” – Psalm 118:6
Further Food for Thought
“Fear is the result of distrust, of taking the eye off God, of being unduly occupied with difficulties and troubles." – AW Pink
“Fear is generated by unbelief, and unbelief strengthened by fear. Nothing can cure us of fear till God cures us of unbelief.” - Francis Burkitt
Hymn: “I must have the Savior with me” by Fanny Crosby
I must have the Savior with me,
For I dare not go alone,
I must feel His presence near me,
And His arm around me thrown.
Refrain:
Then my soul shall fear no ill, fear no ill,
Let Him lead me where He will, where He will,
I will go without a murmur,
And His footsteps follow still.
I must have the Savior with me,
For my faith, at best, is weak;
He can whisper words of comfort,
That no other voice can speak.
Refrain:
I must have the Savior with me,
In the onward march of life,
Thro’ the tempest and the sunshine,
Thro’ the battle and the strife.
Refrain:
I must have the Savior with me,
And His eye the way must guide,
Till I reach the vale of Jordan,
Till I cross the rolling tide.
