Messages on Heaven
Relocating to Heaven
by Pastor John Khng
Scripture Reading: John 14:1-6; Phil. 1:21-23; 2 Cor. 5:8
Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Joh 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Joh 14:5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Php 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Php 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: yet what I shall choose I wot (know or understand)not.
Php 1:23 For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
For a Christian death is actually relocating from earth to heaven.
Relocating to Heaven
I. Preparing the Place – John 14:1-2
Jesus is preparing heaven for us to stay there forever - Jn 14:1-2
“I go to prepare a place for you” – John 14:2; “there will be many mansions (dwelling places)” – John 14:2.
Those who have moved house will know this that before we move to our new home, we need to prepare our new place – flooring, bedroom sets, built-in cabinets, furniture, lighting, air con, etc
My family has moved 6 times in 30 years, the present place is our 6th dwelling place I am looking forward to move again – this time to our eternal dwelling place.
II. Moving Day – John 14:3
A) Could be the day of Christ coming to receive us to heaven - the rapture - John 14:3
B) Could be the day of our passing from this earth.
The day we passed away from this earthly place, would be the day we will move into her new heavenly home.
When would be my (your) moving out day to heaven? God knows and He is the One who determines when you and I are moving from earth to heaven.
III. A Far Better Place – Phil.1:23
We already know but still will be surprised when we reach there. Heaven is a far better place than earth
IV. Route to our New Heavenly Home – John 14:6
“John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
How can we get to heaven? Through believing and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour.
He is the way meaning that He is the only One who can bring us to heaven because He came down from heaven for this purpose.
He is the way means that to have Him is to be on the way to heaven.
By God's grace and mercy, I have believed on Christ and accepted Him as my personal Saviour.
I am walking in the way of Christ, the way that leads to heaven. How about you?
Further Food for Thought
“When I get to heaven, I shall see three wonders there.
The first wonder will be to see many there whom I did not expect to see;
the second wonder will be to miss many people who I did expect to see;
and the third and greatest of all will be to find myself there.” – John Newton

- Far Better because Christ is there.
2 Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. - Far Better because it is a Perfect place – There will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, no more pain, Rev. 21:4; no more curse – Rev. 22:3
- Far Better because we will be given a glorified body – 1 Cor 15:53
- Far Better because we will be reunited with our loved ones.
- Far Better because we are going to live there forever.
