Although Pastor Sherwin grew up attending Sunday school, it was during his secondary school years in 1987 that he repented of his sins and placed his faith in the finished work of Christ for his salvation. In 1990, he surrendered to God’s call to full-time ministry at a youth camp and enrolled in his home church’s Bible Institute in Las Piñas City, Philippines, to prepare for Christian service.

While pioneering church-planting work in the Philippines and Southeast Asia and assisting missionaries throughout the region, Pastor Sherwin pursued and received theological diplomas and degrees through various Baptist institutions from 1996 to 2020. This continued pursuit of learning not only prepared him for pastoral leadership but also equipped him for effective ministry and the training of future servants of God.

Pastor Sherwin was ordained to the Gospel ministry in 2004 at Victory Baptist Church in Baguio City, Philippines. On the first Sunday of January 2014, he and a few Filipino brethren began the first worship service of the Filipino Ministry at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. This ministry continues to gather every Sunday at 2:00 p.m., reaching out to Filipinos in Singapore with the Gospel of Christ.

As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:18 (KJV), “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him.” God is the One who places every believer in the local body of Christ according to His will and for a unique purpose. As we faithfully use the gifts and abilities He has given us for His glory, we experience joy, peace, and fulfillment in serving Him. Therefore, there is no place for comparison or competition; instead, with a servant’s heart, unity, cooperation, and teamwork, we can faithfully fulfill God’s will and purpose for His church.

Pastor Sherwin and his wife, Jhosie Tebelin, are blessed with one daughter, Kharis Yazmin. Together, they joyfully serve the Lord through the Filipino Ministry at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
