by Lydia Lee My husband Vincent and I have celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. (Where have all the years gone?) But I certainly would not trade now the 11th year for the first. As the years progress, it seems so wonderfully that each year has become richer and far more satisfying than before. Of course, I remember and treasure too, the special ‘tingling’ I had and the wonderful feeling of falling in love with the ‘right’ man, the first date, the first kiss, the first day of marriage, the first honeymoon, the first home. These are all memories still lingering in my heart. First experiences are never to be forgotten. The delight and wonder of spending the entire life with the right man is sweet-sweeter as the years go by. Faithfulness and commitment to one another is what matters most and we should value the mate the Lord has given us so that we will not miss the joys that come with maturity through the years as the Lord leads us along.
Surely life is always filled with the ups and downs, failures, frustrations etc, but leaning on the Lord, claiming His promises, walking with Him, based on a lifetime of searching the Scriptures and experiencing the power of God would overrule everything. God values the faithfulness of His servants too and we should constantly remind ourselves that we are bought with a price. When we were lost in sin, it was the wondrous grace of Jesus that brought us back to His fold. Our fellowship with the Lord should be as the songwriter Lelia N. Morris put it ‘sweeter as the years go by, richer, fuller, deeper, Jesus’ love is sweeter, sweeter as the years go by.’ I remember vividly how precious too the first time I found Christ as my personal Saviour was the joy of my sins being forgiven and the wonderful peace that flooded my soul constantly remind me to rejoice in the Lord always. As we commemorate the church’s 1st Anniversary, we think of all the wonderful things the Lord has blessed us thus far. The registration as a Church, the approval of a church bus, etc. It is good to think of the happy ways we are blessed and press forward and pray that our Church will grow spiritually and numerically. May the Lord revive our Church and may it be Sweeter-sweeter as the years go by. (Christ Our Foundation, Church Anniversary Magazine 1)
